In her lifetime of serving her community there are very few who haven’t crossed paths with Tate County’s own Tameka Herron.
Born and raised a native of Senatobia, Herron attended Senatobia High School. After graduation she then became a Ranger at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Initially, Herron began working for Senatobia’s City Hall, but then was promoted to Municipal Court clerk. She has been in the position for a decade now.
“Since I have been in this position, I have grown very fond of what I do as a court clerk. I enjoy being able to work in my hometown and serve my community,” said Herron.
Herron said her future goals are to serve her community and help solve issues.
“My goal is to continue to work and serve my community by doing what is best to influence and uplift others,” Herron said. “I was told by my mom, someone who I admire most, to always try find an answer or always try to be the answer.”
When Herron is not working for the city, she is very involved with her church. She serves as youth director for the youth department, as well as secretary, program coordinator, praise team member and announcer.
When asked about what it means to be a woman of influence, Herron places integrity and work ethic as priorities.
“It means that I have the opportunity to influence others by maintaining a sense of integrity all while sustaining my role as a woman who thrives on hard work and dedication,” said Herron.
Herron has one daughter, Essynce Rhodes, who is 21.
“She is my greatest accomplishment,” said Herron.
