A vehicle accident claimed the lives of two Tate County residents, according to authorities.
A report from the Tunica County Sheriff's Office states Nicholas Paul Stafford, 29, of Senatobia, and Ruby Gene Watney, 36, of Coldwater, were killed when the vehicles they were driving collided Monday, Sept. 23, at the intersection of Highway 713 (Casino Center Extended) and Kirby Road in Robinsonville.
Deputies and first responders arriving on scene noted both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash, according to the report.
Officials later discovered during an investigation a firearm was stolen from the scene of the accident. Jonathan Parr, 59, of Hernando, and Christina Brumback, 42, of Hernando, were arrested and booked at the Tunica County Jail within 48 hours of the initial call reporting the accident.
Parr was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and felon in possession of a stolen firearm, while Brumback was charged with accessory after the fact.
Tunica County Sheriff officials said the firearm was recovered and thanked the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in the investigation.
