Most people never give thought to the kind of people who had their beginnings in Tate County, but there have been many men and women who called somewhere in Tate County home for a portion of their lives.

James Earl Jones was born in Arkabutla on January 17, 1931, the son of Robert Earl Jones and Ruth Williams.

Black History Month in Tate County
