It is a very scary thing to be too deep. I may desire to go deep-sea fishing, but I do not desire to go deep-sea swimming — it is too deep. I may desire to go on a guided tour in a cave, but I do not desire to enter a cave alone and unguided — it is too deep.

Have hearts set on eternity

We are just a few months away from the summation of eight years since the passing of my father. He suffered a massive heart attack and practically died right before my eyes. While the physical event was and is a nightmare that I honestly try not to think about, I believe spiritually it was a dream come true.

Clearly understanding unstable

There are at least two words (and there may be others) that are unique to James in the Greek New Testament. The two I have in mind both can be found in James 1:8. "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." The Greek word translated "double-minded" is only found in this verse and in James 4:8 in the New Testament.
