The Tate County Jail has been recommended for accreditation following a rigorous two-day audit conducted by a team from the American Correctional Association (ACA).
Core Jail Standards consist of 155 separate standards aligning with the best correctional practices and Tate County Jail received a perfect score of 100%.
“This outstanding achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Tate County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Luke Shepherd. “Every day, they serve this community with professionalism and integrity—ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of not only the citizens of Tate County but also those in our custody.”
Tate County Jail will formally accept its accreditation certificate after a panel review in August.
“We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and will continue to uphold the highest standards in corrections,” Jail Administrator Chad Wicker added.
