Tate County Circuit Court records show the following sentences were among those handed down during the December 2023 Vacation terms of court.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Jimmy McClure’s court:
• Wendy Blake aka Wendy Cates, of Jackson, Tenn., had her probation revoked to serve four years in MDOC on a charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. She must pay $1,264.67 in court costs.
• Tyler Bumpous, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 25 years in MDOC after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. He must pay $2,878.97 in court costs.
• Tyler Bumpous, of Coldwater, was sentenced to five years in MDOC to run concurrently with previous sentencing after a guilty plea on a charge of credit card fraud. He must pay $3,581.39 in court costs.
• Terence Bernard Lee, of Coldwater, was sentenced to consecutively serve five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender as a habitual offender and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of residing within 3,000 feet of a school as a habitual offender. He must pay $2,196.30 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Smith Murphey’s court:
• David D. Croney, of Byhalia, had his probation revoked to serve 16 years and six months in MDOC on a charge of sexual battery. He must pay $202.00 in court costs.
• Myesha House, of Sardis, was sentenced to five years in MDOC and 15 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of drive-by shooting. She must pay $6,251.10 in court costs.
• Kadijah Lavisha Johnson, of Walls, was sentenced to seven years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of mayhem. She must pay $11,272.09 in court costs.
• Karen Meraz Kile, of Coldwater, was sentenced to consecutively serve 10 years in MDOC and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on charge of touching a child for lustful purposes and 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of sexual battery. She must pay $2,705.00 in court costs.
Some of the final decisions reported here may be the result of plea negotiations. By law, circuit court judges are not involved in plea negotiations. Most sentences are the result of a negotiated agreement between the district attorney and defendant.
