Tate County Circuit Court records show the following sentences were among those handed down during the November 2023 Vacation terms of court.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Jimmy McClure’s court:
• Jearl L. Avant, of Como, was sentenced to 182 days in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and 19 years, 183 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of aggravated assault. He must pay $4,374.30 in court costs.
• George Roger Boyd, of Senatobia, had his probation revoked to serve five years in MDOC on a charge of possession of fentanyl as a recidivist. He must pay $2,098.74 in court costs.
• Jeremy Ryan Brooks, of Southaven, was sentenced to 65 days in MDOC and seven years, 300 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell – less than two grams. He had charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to sell – less than two grams; possession of methamphetamine and tetrahydrocannabinol with intent to sell – less than two grams; possession of methamphetamine and heroin with intent to sell – less than two grams; and conspiracy remanded to the file. Brooks must pay $2,966.90 in court costs.
• Sidney Allison Busby, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication in intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine as a recidivist. She had charges of possession of controlled substance – fentanyl as a recidivist and possession of controlled substance – marijuana as a recidivist remanded to the file. Busby must pay $1,885.70 in court costs.
• Joseph Daniel Crabb, of Coldwater, was ordered to concurrently serve two sentences of 30 days in MDOC and 10 years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to two counts of enticement of a child. He must pay $3,534.70 in court costs.
• Eddie Terrelle Curry, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years in intensive supervision program (house arrest) and intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of DUI-third offense. He must pay $2,190.50 in court costs.
• Chadwick Laquan Davis, of Senatobia, had his probation revoked to serve 15 years in MDOC on a charge of sale of marijuana – less than 30 grams.
• Elijah Matthew Golden, of Coldwater, was sentenced to three years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 0.1 gram but less than two grams. He must pay $2,483.50 in court costs.
• Dustin Paul Grant, of Hernando, had his probation revoked to serve 90 days in MDOC on a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 0.1 gram but less than two grams with firearm enhancement. He must pay $1,460.30 in court costs.
• Errick Jones, of Senatobia, was sentenced to concurrently serve six years suspended with one year of house arrest and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea to a charge of possession of controlled substance with intent to sell and 13 years suspended with one year of house arrest and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of controlled substance – 10 grams but less than 30 grams or 20 to 40 dosage units. He had a charge of possession of controlled substance – 0.1 gram but less than two grams or two to 10 dosage units – remanded to the file. Jones must pay $2,741.50 in court costs.
• Joseph Edward Justice, of Coldwater, had his probation revoked to serve two years in MDOC on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. He must pay $14.40 in court costs.
• Skylar Ray Kelley, of Sarah, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication in intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of sale of fentanyl – 20 dosage units but less than 40 dosage units. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. Kelley must pay $2,403.80 in court costs.
• Bobby Ray McNeal, of Como, had his probation revoked to serve 29 days in MDOC and remain in intervention court upon release on a charge of DUI-fourth offense. He must pay $16.60 in court costs.
• April Lynn Montgomery, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 10 years post-release supervision in intervention court with one year of house arrest after a guilty plea on a charge of DUI-fourth offense. She must pay $2,012.96 in court costs.
• Ashley Paige Moore, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication in intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of methamphetamine – 20 dosage units but less than 40. She had two charges of conspiracy and a charge of possession of fentanyl and 4-ANPP remanded to the file. Moore must pay $2,118.50 in court costs.
• Kardavious Oliver, of Memphis, was sentenced to 122 days in MDOC and 243 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. He had three charges of conspiracy, two charges of grand larceny, two charges of burglary of a dwelling and a charge of petit larceny remanded to the file. Oliver must pay $4,129.30 in court costs.
• Anthony D. Robertson, of Como, was sentenced to five years post-release supervision in intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of marijuana – 30 to 250 grams. He must pay $1,334.90 in court costs.
• Ashley Scroggins, of Water Valley, was sentenced to serve 10 years in MDOC after pleading guilty to two counts of obtaining controlled substance by fraud. She must pay $1,556.30 in court costs.
• Kendall Paige Shaw, of Knoxville, Tenn., was sentenced to five years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of conspiracy to take away a motor vehicle. She had a charge of felony taking away a motor vehicle remanded to the file. Shaw must pay $4,502.81 in court costs.
• Tyree Quentavius Stevenson, of Coldwater, was sentenced to three years suspended with one year of house arrest after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of a firearm on school property. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. Stevenson must pay $1,568.70 in court costs.
• Phillip Nathaniel Stone, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five days in MDOC and 20 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of aggravated assault. He must pay $2,151.50 in court costs.
• Daires Narjie Wink, of Senatobia, was sentenced to nine years post-release supervision in intervention court on a charge of felon in possession of a weapon. He must pay $2,454.30 in court costs.
• Demarcus Wooten, of Senatobia, was sentenced to 20 years in MDOC after he was found guilty of manslaughter following a three-day jury trial. He must pay $9,182.61 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Smith Murphey’s court:
• Jon-Titus Depriest Avant, of Senatobia, was sentenced to three years in MDOC and 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of strong-arm robbery. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. Avant must pay $2,366.30 in court costs.
• Carlos Cox, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of embezzlement – $1,000 to $5,000. He must pay $3,967.68 in court costs.
• Dietrick Demon Davis aka Dietrich Demon Davis, of Senatobia, had his probation revoked to serve 183 days in MDOC on a charge of burglary other than dwelling. He must pay $740.00 in court costs.
• Sangeous S. Harris aka Sangaeous, Sulmun Harris, of Senatobia, was sentenced to three years in MDOC and 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of strong-arm robbery. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. Harris must pay $3,807.90 in court costs.
• Jacouvious Jamal Johnson, of Maricopa, Ariz., was sentenced to three years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of sale of tetrahydrocannabinol – seven dosage units. He must pay $3,036.90 in court costs.
• Javion Rasheed McKinney, of Senatobia, was sentenced to three years in MDOC and 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of strong-arm robbery. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. McKinney must pay $3,024.70 in court costs.
• Keaton Blake Self, of Crenshaw, was sentenced to two years in MDOC and three years post-release supervision to run concurrently with previous sentencing after a guilty plea on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender as a habitual offender. He must pay $1,837.10 in court costs.
• Daryl Deshawn Stokes, of Crenshaw, was sentenced to five years in MDOC and 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of sale of cocaine – less than two grams as a recidivist. Two other charges of sale of cocaine – less than two grams as a recidivist – were dismissed. Stokes must pay $3,838.50 in court costs.
Some of the final decisions reported here may be the result of plea negotiations. By law, circuit court judges are not involved in plea negotiations. Most sentences are the result of a negotiated agreement between the district attorney and defendant.
