After collecting two wins to open the season, Senatobia dropped a pair of shutouts against Southaven and Hickory Flat last week.
In a 3-0 road loss at Southaven last Tuesday, the Lady Warriors fell in a close opening set, 25-21. However, the second set wasn’t nearly as close, as the Lady Chargers ran away with a 25-11 decision and a 2-0 match lead.
Despite the tough going in the second set, Senatobia refused to back down. The Lady Warriors battled throughout the third set, determined to avoid the shutout to the Class 7A opponent. However, Southaven finally got the best of SHS when it was all said and done, earning the 28-26 clincher.
A’Destiny Bogan led Senatobia with eight kills, while Grace Schumacher led with seven assists. Audrey Pinkston finished with seven digs, followed by five from Bogan.
Returning home to face Hickory Flat last Thursday, Senatobia and the Lady Rebels locked in early with a tight, back-and-forth battle. The visiting team squeaked out a 28-26 decision in the opening set, before gaining a little separation with a 25-19 victory in the second set.
Leading the match 2-0, Hickory Flat was then able to close things out in the third set, taking a 25-17 decision.
Despite the loss, Bogan had a strong performance for the Lady Warriors, finishing with 16 of the team’s 24 kills and 20 digs. Pinkston led SHS with 25 digs, while Schumacher posted 14 assists.
Now 2-2 on the season, Senatobia is expected to face both Houlka and Grenada on the road this Saturday, before returning home to host Potts Camp on Tuesday, August 27 and Winona on Thursday, Aug. 29.
