Behind four top 10 finishes, the Senatobia boys’ cross country team took home first place from the Hickory Flat Invitational on September 12.
Senior Bryson Taylor led all competitors by placing first overall out of 71 runners with a 19:47.64 result. Sophomore Benjamin Thompson and freshman Austin Winstead also placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 20:24.44 and 20:26.77.
Senior Braxton Taylor finished in 10th overall with a 21:00.68 result as junior Brandon Williams rounded out the Warriors’ score with a 13th finish and a time of 21:31.72.
Senatobia’s 35 total points placed ahead of runner-up Kossuth’s 53 points and third place team Walnut’s 98 points.
Additionally, Senatobia also placed third in girls’ competition with 90 total points. Kossuth won the event with 24 total points and five top 10 finishers, while Alcorn Central placed second with 42 overall points.
Freshman Ella Oursler finished as the Lady Warriors’ top runner with a ninth place finish and a 24:03.36 time. Seventh-grader Mary Katherine Blair also placed 22nd with a time of 27:59.45.
Magnolia Heights also competed in the event and finished sixth overall. The Lady Chiefs were led by freshman Makenzie Nosef’s 28:30.44 time for a 26th individual finish. Seventh-grader Mari Bradley McCellan also finished 29th with a result of 29:25.67.
