Senatobia Public Library is helping its patrons stay warm by giving away a variety of free winter clothing items.
The Giving Tree, which provides hats, headbands, scarves and gloves to anyone who needs them through the end of January, is back for the sixth consecutive year. A majority of the winter items were donated and knitted by staff, community members and Friends of the Library.
Stephanie Brown, an assistant at Senatobia Public Library, said over 700 pieces of winter clothing are ready to be given away, but distribution is being done differently this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The items may not be tried on or removed from their plastic bags, but are free to anyone who visits the library,” Brown said. “We are so thankful for all the talented knitters who made this possible.”
The staff at Senatobia Public Library handed out close to 500 pieces of winter clothing last year.
