Senatobia water customers can expect to see a hike in their November bill.
The city’s Board of Aldermen voted in favor of the increase Tuesday, Oct. 7 to cover the cost of operations for the water department resulting in a $2.48 increase on the minimum monthly water bill.
Mayor Greg Graves said a professional consultant analyzed Senatobia’s utility rates and compared them to surrounding municipalities.
“Our last rise in water prices came in 2021,” said Graves. “The cost of maintenance and general upkeep has risen which led to the necessary increase.”
Minimum monthly charges for residential water rates in Senatobia will increase from $9.95 to $12.43 for the first 2,000 gallons of usage. An additional $5 will be charged for each 1,000 gallons of water used above the 2,000-gallon mark.
For commercial customers, rates will rise from $11.61 to $12.50 per month for first 2,000 gallons of water. The cost for each additional 1,000 gallons is changing from $2.90 to $3.50.
Senatobia water customers who reside outside the city limits will pay more beginning in November as well.
Residential rates are jumping from $12.43 to $15 for the first 2,000 gallons of usage. The additional charge of $4.97 for each 1,000 gallons consumed above that number is remaining the same.
Commercial rates outside the city limits are rising from $17.40 to $26 for the initial 2,000 gallons and from $5.81 to $6 for each additional 1,000 gallons.
