Roger Bruce Peterson Sr. a United States Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Coldwater, MS. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the age of 77. He was born on January 29, 1944, in Abbotsford, WI. As a young man at the age of 18, in 1962, he served his country in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Independence at Portsmouth, VA. serving his country for two and a half years with honors. After his service in the Navy, he met Helena Singer in 1965 and they were married in 1967. They lived in Sparta, WI. for seven years and then moved to Mississippi in 1976. They were married for 54 years and had nine children. He was employed by Holiday Inn and later with the Brinkman Corporation. Roger enjoyed gardening, was a jack of all trades and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Helena Peterson of Coldwater, MS., sons; Roger Peterson Jr. of Coldwater, MS., Charles (Casandra) Peterson of Bartlett, TN., Joseph Peterson, Joshua Peterson of Coldwater, MS.; daughters; Tammy (Kyle) Wilson of Mooresville, NC., Tina (Paul) Umberger of Coldwater, MS., Zadok (Tracy) Loveless of Byhalia, MS., Tabitha (Heath) Hooper of Batesville, MS., Samantha Peterson of Munsford, TN.; 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Laura Jean Davis of Tomah, WI., nephew, Ed, a niece, Vicky and cousins; Charlene (Don) Galston, Mary Ametani of WI., countless friends and untold beneficiaries of his random acts of kindness. Funeral services were held Friday, June 4, 2021, at Coleman Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Graveside services followed in West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
