A man on probation for a crime he committed in 2022 is headed back to prison after violating the terms of his release.
Documents from Tate County Circuit Court show Robert Earl Reed III was revoked to serve four years in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) to run consecutively with a revocation sentencing he received earlier this year for a child deprivation charge.
Reed, 24, was originally sentenced to 321 days in MDOC and four years post-release supervision in April 2023 when he pleaded guilty in a child deprivation case after he was arrested April 16, 2022.
In May 2023, Reed was taken into custody by officials from the Tate County Sheriff’s Office on charges of simple assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, disobeying a lawful order and resisting arrest which were all infringements of his probation.
A TCSO report states deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Willie Hibbler Road on Tuesday, May 23, at approximately 8:21 p.m., after a disturbance was reported. A deputy was assaulted after arriving at the residence and the suspect identified as Reed fled the scene.
With assistance from the Senatobia Police Department, Reed was apprehended nearly an hour later on Willie Hibbler Road. The deputy suffered minor injuries and was released shortly after being treated, according to TCSO officials.
