The Cosmopolitan club held its May meeting in the lovely home of Mrs. Julie Correro. Members enjoyed delicious refreshments as they enjoyed visiting both indoors and outdoors on the patio. President Marilyn Bateman opened the meeting by paying tribute to President Elect Gale Cushman whose untimely death was a shock to the members. Mrs. Bateman read the poem “Success” by Bessie Anderson Stanley which she believed described the life of Mrs. Cushman. Leader Mrs. Julia Kelly then introduced Tate Record Publisher Stephanie Cunningham. Ms. Cunningham shared her professional life’s history and then presented an informative program on the role of the community newspaper. Members and Ms. Cunningham entered a lively debate on what constitutes front page coverage. Publisher Cunningham challenged the ladies to send news to the paper. Mrs. Leanne Young presented an inspirational devotional using an egg, a carrot, and a coffee bean to illustrate how one could choose to handle life’s adversities. President Bateman presided over the business meeting. Ms. Eleanor Cahill was introduced as the club president for the 2022-23 year.
