A section of a street in downtown Senatobia will be strictly a one-way thoroughfare soon.
City aldermen voted to make the change to Center Street with traffic running from north to south from Main to Tate Street at their recessed meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Contractors are expected to begin work on that one-block section of Center Street sometime in November. Mayor Greg Graves said a scope of the work would include new striping, signage and parallel parking spaces on both sides of the street.
“This should help alleviate some congestion and provide more parking options for the businesses at the south corners of Main and Center Street,” Graves explained.
Aldermen originally considered making Center Street one-way from College Street to Tate Street, but decided against it after discussions with several business owners in that particular area.
