The Nation's Weather for Saturday, December 24, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Lake-effect snow will be heavy tomorrow, particularly east
of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Strong winds will accompany
the snow and can produce significant lakeshore flooding and
power outages. Meanwhile, a few flurries can fly as far
south and east as the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania
and western Maryland. Warmer air will gradually transition
precipitation from ice to rain in the Pacific Northwest,
although freezing rain is likely to continue over interior
Washington. Even where snow has stopped falling, blowing
snow will still be an issue in much of the Midwest. The wind
combined with a continuation of bitterly cold air will make
it dangerous to be outdoors. Overnight, a freeze will be
possible as far south as central Florida. This may threaten
crops in the area.
