Magnolia Heights School is celebrating its 55th year this fall by continuing a tradition of excellence in preparing students for the future.
Since it opened in 1970, MHS has made a strong commitment to a college preparatory curriculum as a means of ensuring students are ready and prepared for the rigors of college life and successful careers afterward.
Director of Communications Lynn Savage said Magnolia Heights is excited to welcome over 100 new students to “The Hill” for the 2025-26 school year.
“We will once again focus on the ACT for our secondary students by having them participate in preparatory classes as well as specialized boot camps,” she explained.
“Last year, we incorporated senior internships in the spring semester and received positive feedback from parents and students.”
Savage said that program will be expanded this year with the addition of a “shadow day” to expose sixth grade students to future careers they may be interested in.
One of largest independent schools in Mississippi, Magnolia Heights was selected as an Apple Distinguished School from 2021 through 2024 for innovative use of technology for an enhanced learning environment.
“To enhance and build teacher-student relationships, all seventh though 12th grade students will meet with a teacher advisor several times a month and follow them through to graduation,” Savage said. “Our broadcast journalism class will continue learning and live streaming our athletic and school events with the addition of some new hi-definition technology. They will also produce biweekly news segments for the student body.”
