The junior high Chiefs took the field on homecoming Thursday looking to avenge the loss the Patriots handed the varsity team. Wide receiver Andrew Wright put the first points of the game on the board crossing the goal line on a 9 yard touchdown pass from Jax Wilson. The PAT split the uprights and Magnolia Heights led 7-0. Wilson would again find Wright to make it 13-0 in favor of the Chiefs. The PAT was good and the lead stretched to 14-0
On their next possession the Chiefs stayed on the ground, taking time off the game clock with a drive that ended with running back Blake Spencer plunging up the middle for the touchdown. Once again the PAT split the upright and Magnolia Heights led 21-0.
The Patriots would not go quietly into the night however, as Heritage quarterback Charlie Fowler stepped out of the pocket to hit Evan Matocha on the 27-yard touchdown strike to narrow the Chief lead 21-6. The score would remain there as the PAT attempt was wide right.
The Chiefs made a change at quarterback, with Will Howell taking the helm. Several plays later, Howell found Spencer down the left side for the score. The PAT was no good so with 3:35 remaining the Chiefs led 27-7.
The junior high Patriots fumbled on second down and Magnolia Heights took over on the Heritage 27 yard line with 1:53 remaining on the game clock. The Chiefs moved the ball down to the Patriot 12 yard line before Jax Wilson scampered in to increase the lead to 33-7. This time Coach Frazier’s Chiefs went for the two point conversion and the lead widened to 35-7 as time ran out in the first half of play.
After the half, the rested Chiefs picked up where they left off as Spenser ran 40 yards up the middle of the field and the heart of the Patriot defense for the first points of the second half. The PAT sailed over the cross bar and Magnolia Heights led 42-7 halfway through the third quarter.
On their ensuing possession the Patriots moved the ball out to their 30 yard line before Chief defensive back Jackson Price intercepted Fowler’s pass intended for CJ Gathings returning it 67 yards for the score. The successful PAT attempt stretched the lead to 49-7 in favor of the Chiefs.
As the game moved into the fourth quarter Jax Wilson struck again, this time on a 21 yard touchdown that iced the victory for the Chiefs 55-7.
The winning continued with the Magnolia Heights B team defeating the Heritage Academy Patriots 6-0 on a touchdown by Chiefs seventh grade wide receiver Mac Bouchillon.
