After several years of administering local air medical transports, Hospital Wing has ended its contract with Tate County. The contract included stipulations the company would not bill citizens for services it provides beyond what is paid by individual insurance providers.
A statement from Tate County Emergency Management said Hospital Wing delivered a letter to the Board of Supervisors on Friday, Sept. 24, notifying them the contract would be terminated within 30 days which is allowed under terms of the agreement.
According to the statement from Tate County Emergency Management, Hospital Wing and its subsidiaries will continue to provide air medical transport services in Tate County, however some citizens could be responsible for copays or deductible expenses.
The Board of Supervisors and county emergency service personnel are working diligently with vendors to secure a new contract and provide services to citizens in a similar manner, the statement said.
“Service will not be interrupted during this time and proper care for our citizens will be provided as always,” said Kim Brownlee, Tate County Emergency Management Director.
Hospital Wing, a Mid-South based air ambulance company which utilizes six helicopters, provides interhospital transfers as well as emergency scene calls within a 250-mile radius of Memphis.
