A Coldwater man was arrested in Tunica County and charged with his seventh DUI in three years, according to law enforcement authorities.
A statement from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office said David Williams, 57, was taken into custody Wednesday, Sept. 13, during a traffic stop.
Deputies stopped Williams near the intersection of Prichard Road and Dulaney Road just before 8 p.m. Officials said Williams was “observed to be driving under the influence” and taken into custody. The TCSO statement said deputies searched Williams’ vehicle and found narcotics.
Williams was charged with DUI, driving without insurance, careless driving, and driving with a suspended license. Additional charges are pending, according to TCSO.
Authorities said Williams has been arrested six times for DUI since 2020. He was reportedly on probation for possession of controlled substance conviction and received a two-year sentence for that offense. TCSO said Williams also had a felony bond for domestic violence/aggravated assault.
Williams was held at the Tunica County Jail under a $11,650 following his initial appearance in court Thursday, Sept. 14.
