Absentee voting is underway for the November general election featuring two local and a pair of statewide races.
However, not all residents of Tate County will vote in the election Tuesday, Nov. 4, which includes bipartisan school board seats in Districts 3 and 4 and senate races for Districts 1 and 11.
Absentee voting runs through Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Tate County Circuit Clerk’s Office inside the courthouse on Ward Street in Senatobia. Special office hours are set from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 1.
County school board district lines differ from Supervisor district lines so only people who reside in Coldwater 3, Palestine, Poagville 4 and Poagville 5 precincts will vote for the District 3 school board spot where incumbent Terri Troxler Reeves faces challengers Shelby Elmore and Prescilla C. Turner.
District 3 Precincts:
Coldwater 3 – Tate County School District central office, 574 Parkway Street
Palestine – Greenleaf Volunteer Fire Department, 8584 Palestine Road
Poagville 4 – Poagville Volunteer Fire Department, 1206 Poagville Rd
Poagville 5 –The Grove Baptist Church, 100 Hickory Grove
The District 4 county school board race features Nicholas Jones challenging incumbent K. Dale Dunigan. Those voting precincts are Senatobia 4 (voters living outside the city school zone), Looxahoma, Thyatira, Tyro and Wyatte.
District 4 Precincts:
Looxahoma – Looxahoma Baptist Church, 808 Lyles Road
Senatobia 4 – Woodman of the World building, 137 Halls Mill Levee Rd
Thyatira – Thyatira Church of Christ, 26059 Highway 4 East
Tyro – Tyro Community Center, 7676 Looxahoma-Tyro Road
Wyatte – Wyatte Baptist Church, 30721 Highway 4 East
The District 1 state senate race includes Democrat Chris Hanna against Republican Michael W. McLendon and voting will take place at the following precincts:
Arkabutla – Arkabutla Community Center

Sherrod – Crockett Community Center, 7256 Highway 4 West (Sherrod is a split precinct between Districts 1 and 11)
Strayhorn 2 – Old Flag Lake Church multi-purpose building, 1628 Highway 4 West
Taylor – Antioch No. 2 Church, 3330 Arkabutla Rd
Voting for the District 11 state senate spot featuring Democrat Reginald Dejuan Jackson and Republican Kendall Prewett will take place at:
Evansville – Evansville Baptist Church family life center, 471 Evansville Rd
Flag Lake - Flag Lake Baptist Church, 1628 Highway 4 West
Sherrod – Crockett Community Center, 7256 Highway 4 West (Sherrod is a split precinct between Districts 1 and 11)
