Tate County Circuit Court records show the following sentences were among those handed down during the December 2021 Vacation terms of court.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Jimmy McClure’s court:
• Timmy Darrel Evans, of Senatobia, was sentenced to one day in MDOC and nine years, 364 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of DUI-fourth or subsequent offense to run consecutively with previous sentencing. He must pay $2,088 in court costs.
• Venestia Ann Jones, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 20 years post-release supervision through intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of conspiracy to sell cocaine as a habitual offender. She had a charge of sale of cocaine; two grams but less than 10 grams as a habitual offender remanded to the file. Jones must pay $2,249.62 in court costs.
• Ronnie Sipp, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 20 years post-release supervision through drug court after a guilty plea on a charge of sale of cocaine; two grams but less than 10 grams. He had a charge of possession of marijuana; 30 grams or less as a habitual and recidivist remanded to the file. Sipp must pay $1,794.80 in court costs.
• Robert Leslie Smithee, of Coldwater, had his probation revoked to serve 10 years in MDOC on a charge of DUI-fourth offense. He must pay $2,091.58 in court costs.
• William Roger Terrell III, of Memphis, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of grand larceny. He must pay $2,102.47 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Smith Murphey’s court:
• Alex June Davis, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 20 years suspended and non-reporting probation after a guilty plea on a charge of aggravated assault of an elderly person. He must pay $808.84 in court costs.
• Thomas Kona Plaster, of Sardis, was sentenced to 104 days in MDOC and four years, 261 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of auto theft. He had a charge of conspiracy remanded to the file. Plaster must pay $4,071.90 in court costs.
• Mitchell Saulsberry, of Senatobia, was sentenced to 18 months in MDOC and three years, six months post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender as a habitual offender. He must pay $2,723.90 in court costs.
• Demontray Walters, of Lambert, was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. He had charges of conspiracy and grand larceny remanded to the file. Walters must pay $6,230.90 in court costs.
Some of the final decisions reported here may be the result of plea negotiations. By law, circuit court judges are not involved in plea negotiations. Most sentences are the result of a negotiated agreement between the district attorney and defendant.
