Tate County Circuit Court records show the following sentences were among those handed down during the November 2021 Vacation terms of court.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Gerald Chatham’s court:
• Amanda Blair Boyce, of Sardis, was sentenced to 10 years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling to run concurrent with previous sentencing. She must pay $2,259.58 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Jimmy McClure’s court:
• Gabriel Arrellanos, of Senatobia, was sentenced to 406 days in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) and eight years, 324 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of felony child abuse. He must pay $2,083.17 in court costs.
• Kenneth Bowen, of Senatobia, had his probation revoked to serve five years in MDOC on a charge of DUI-fourth as a habitual offender. He must pay $2,933.07 in court costs.
• Georges Marion Collins, of Coldwater, was sentenced to three days in MDOC and 19 years, 362 days post-release supervision in intervention court after a guilty plea on a charge of conspiracy. He had two charges of sale of cocaine: two grams but less than 10 grams remanded to the file. Collins must pay $2,722.62 in court costs.
• Amanda Rose Johnston, of Horn Lake, was sentenced to one day in MDOC and five years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of methamphetamine: 0.1 gram but less than two grams as a recidivist. She had a charge of identity theft remanded to the file. Johnston must pay $2,579.81 in court costs.
• Matthew Timothy O’Brian Newson, of Nashville, Tenn., was sentenced to two days in MDOC and five years, 363 days post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of possession of methamphetamine: 0.1 gram but less than two grams as a recidivist and habitual offender. He must pay $2,350.12 in court costs.
• Crystal Lynn Roberson, of Coldwater, was sentenced to 95 days in MDOC and 24 years, 270 days post-release supervision in intervention court to run concurrently with previous sentencing after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. She had a charge of petit larceny remanded to the file. Roberson must pay $2,132.72 in court costs.
• Brandy Nicole Akers Thomas, of Coldwater, had her probation revoked to serve 15 years in MDOC on a charge of manufacture of methamphetamine. She must pay $47,896.06 in court costs.
According to court records, the following decisions were handed down in Judge Smith Murphey’s court:
• Anita Barlow, of Crenshaw, had a charge of possession of methamphetamine; 0.1 gram but less than two grams as a recidivist remanded to the file. She must pay $1,413.50 in court costs.
• Malik Duquan Butler, of McComb, was sentenced to 10 years suspended with five years of probation after a guilty plea on a charge of burglary of a dwelling. He had charges of conspiracy and petit larceny remanded to the file. Butler must pay $1,914.64 in court costs.
• Devante Jamon Newson, of Coldwater, was sentenced to one year in MDOC and four years post-release supervision after a guilty plea on a charge of felony fleeing as a habitual offender. He must pay $1,562.68 in court costs.
• Daniel Alexander Pennington, of Memphis, was sentenced to five years non-adjudication after a guilty plea on a charge of felony malicious mischief. He must pay $4,563.46 in court costs.
• Cortraveyun Shequan Walls, of Senatobia, was sentenced to five years in MDOC to run concurrent with previous sentencing after a guilty plea on a charge of simple assault on a law enforcement officer. He had a charge of simple assault on a law enforcement officer remanded to the file. Walls must pat $1,567.50 in court costs.
Some of the final decisions reported here may be the result of plea negotiations. By law, circuit court judges are not involved in plea negotiations. Most sentences are the result of a negotiated agreement between the district attorney and defendant.
