Senatobia softball coach Tammy Young got a good preview of what to expect from her team in a pair of exhibition games Saturday, Feb. 18.
SHS fell 2-1 to Lafayette, but responded with a 4-2 win against Cleveland Central. Both exhibition contests lasted just three innings.
In the narrow loss to Lafayette, both teams were held to a combined total of three hits. The Lady Commodores also committed two errors, but limited Senatobia to a single hit from Bree Coleman.
Senatobia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, only for Lafayette to tack on a pair of runs in the top of the second. Coleman pitched 1.2 innings, striking out a pair of batters with three walks. Kelsey Hoffman also tossed a full inning for the Lady Warriors, earning one strikeout.
Weather permitting, the Lady Warriors are scheduled to begin their regular season on Tuesday, February 21 against Grenada. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
