Highland Hills Medical Center announces the successful completion of its new accreditation process awarded by DNV.
“This latest achievement underscores our staff’s unwavering dedication to patient safety and their steadfast commitment to exceptional patient care,” said Josh Hammons, HHMC Chief Executive officer.
“I am so proud of our staff for this accomplishment,” said Jenny Miller, Chief Nursing officer. “It is such an honor to lead these amazing people who dedicate themselves to being the best every day for our patients. They sacrifice so much to make Highland Hills Medical Center a premier choice in health care.”
Others offered accolades for the outstanding accomplishment.
“I am not surprised that Highland Hills Medical Center received the accreditation so quickly and that it was very positive,” said Craig Shideler, HHMC Board of Trustees chairman.
“I hope people realize there is a no reason to go elsewhere for immediate emergency care through our Emergency Department, continued excellent personal medical care through our clinic, or when needed, superior quality inpatient care,” Shideler continued.
“We have a highly professional team whose goal is to provide the very best healthcare to all who trust Highland Hills for their medical needs,” he added. “We have a pearl in Highland Hills. I am very proud of all the leadership and staff for this amazing accomplishment.”
Highland Hills Chief of Staff Adam Johnston, MD, said, "We are thrilled to announce that our hospital has successfully achieved NIAHO accreditation, a milestone that stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and expertise of our entire team. This remarkable achievement is a direct result of the collective efforts of our staff, administrators, trustees, supervisors and all those involved in the challenging journey of establishing a hospital from the ground up.”
“Every member of this team has worked diligently to ensure that we meet and exceed the highest standards of healthcare. This is highlighted by this accreditation, but also in the direct care that we provide,” Johnston added. “We celebrate this achievement together, knowing that it is just the beginning of our continued journey to provide the best possible care to our community."
By earning accreditation, Highland Hills Medical Center has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.
“The DNV program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Hammons. “The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is a major step forward.”
Highland Hills Medical Center has three years from the date of its accreditation to achieve compliance with ISO 9001, the world’s most trusted quality management system used by performance-driven organizations around the world to advance their quality and sustainability objectives.
“We have taken an entirely different approach to accreditation, and hospitals are really responding,” says DNV Healthcare USA Inc. President Kelly Proctor. “Since accreditation is a must-have credential for just about every hospital in this country, why not make it more valuable, and get more out of it? That’s where ISO 9001 comes into play and turns the typical get-your-ticket-punched accreditation exercise into a quality transformation.”
DNV’s accreditation program, called NIAHO® (Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys – instead of every three years – and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.
