The “I Care for Animals” car tag program from the Mississippi Board of Animal Health has assisted animal shelters, humane organizations and municipalities for over two decades, primarily with spay/neuter programs.
And they are helping Senatobia and Tate County, too.
Homeless Animals Relief Project (HARP) recently received a $3,000 grant from this program. Spay/neuter (birth control surgery) reduces pet overpopulation and improves feline health.
HARP’s mission is to spay/neuter cats living in high poverty areas and with the working poor.
Based in Senatobia, the 501 (c)3 charitable organization has been serving north Mississippi since 1997. More information on their programs can be found online at homelessanimalsreliefproject.org or call 662-292-0922.
explained “We did not receive as much funding as previous years due to decreased sales of the car tags,” said Denise Bynum, HARP Director. “Please consider upgrading to this specialty tag to help the animals all across Mississippi to live healthier, happier and longer lives. The cost is minimal but the impact is great!”
The license plates may be purchased at county tax collector’s offices including the offices at the Tate County Courthouse.
Proceeds from these purchases go into a state animal care fund which is distributed to organizations that meet the criteria for award.
Cities, counties and nonprofit animal organizations interested in applying for “I Care for Animals” grant money can find more information at mbah.ms.gov.
