Football is back in full swing. There is nothing I like more than to be able to get through the couple of days throughout the week without football only to get things started up again the following week.
Thursday evenings, our own Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers take the field. The Rangers have consistently been ranked high and prove it each week as the talent of the team earn points for the scoreboard.
For Friday night lights, we have four Tate County teams who hit the gridiron each week.
This year is special to me because my sweet daughter gets to entertain the crowds during halftime because she marches for Senatobia High School’s band.
Seeing as how I also marched and played the flute in high school, getting to see her play with the Mighty Sound of Tobie Town, brings my heart joy like no other football season before this.
For Saturdays, our little family added a new event to the line up. Since my husband has decided to step up and help coach a Senatobia youth sports football team for 5 & 6 year olds, I decided to tag along and watch as The Blues headed to Horn Lake to play in their first jamboree game. Seeing the fun those boys had running with all their little hearts, was so uplifting.
It actually reminded me of how we start to love the game at such an early age. It made me think of how these boys start learning so early for to prepare for a college career... and speaking of college, how can I leave out SEC football.
By now most people here have learned I’m a die hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
Now, I know my Bama boys couldn’t pull out a win against Texas. All I have to say about that is that they beat themselves. Nick is going to have to work to get the amount of penalties under control. But that wasn’t the only game on our TV this past weekend. Ole Miss and Mississippi State both played great games and while I don’t have skin in the game for either team, I am happy to see good football played.
Then Sundays roll around and we get NFL football.
This year my son has decided to become a San Francisco 49ers fan. Don’t ask me why. I have no clue how he came up with this latest adventure into fandom, but we induldged him and watched the 49ers take on Pittsburgh.
But wait, let’s not forget about Monday Night Football either.
This is certainly a happy time of year for football fans. A time when everyone can go back to just arguing about their favorite teams in a healthy fun way.
