I am always amazed at the amount of news a small town can make in one week or really one day.
I ask you to look at this edition of your Tate Record.
The Arkabutla Dam, school test scores, a visit by Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann and the couple everyone loves to love who have been named Northwest’s Alumni of the Year: Artie and Tina Smith.
And all that is just on Page One
Inside
Growth the biggest story in this town and will be for years. Where we put businesses, factories and houses will literally shape this community for the next 50-years. We’ve got to get it right.
Can you believe the stuff some people spout claiming to know all about something. I’ll not call names at this point but read this paper closely and keep reading for years to come.
I covered the Independence/Strayhorn football game last week and it was a better game than the score. Independence has a strong line and one of the fastest players I have seen in years. Strayhorn is rebuilding and they will be all right after this week.
Brett got to cover the Magnolia Heights game with Columbus Heritage. That was a testing game for MHS and they earned good marks.
And if you like pretty girls, well this paper is full of them.
Investing
Sales tax revenue remains steady and that is a good indicator businesses are doing business around here.
And Marshall County has landed another industry. Their employees will need a place to sleep, eat, buy groceries and send their kids to school. Why not Tate County?
Interesting
I personally like our Church Page columnists. While their doctrine may be a little different, their view of this world and the next one are the same as mine.
If you want to know about government business and such read our legals. If you want to know who got arrested, who got married, and who sold land, read Public Notices.
And I would like to point out the E911 list. Those elected officials who say there is no need to pay police better, give them a car and support the cops we have need to respond to some of those calls.
And finally we have photos of puppy dogs and kitty cats.
And you get all that for 75-cents.
