Newspapers get a bad rap about printing bad news, and while there is a very real reason why we do that, we much rather tell our readers and the community about the good news.
Both Senatobia and Tate County Schools have done well on state assessments. They deserved to be commended and thanked by the rest of this community.
There was a big push-back on state testing when it was implemented decades ago. But Mississippi is now 16th in the nation in education. It made our school leaders get serious about teachers getting serious about educating our children.
We all got report cards and realize the weight they carry. Parents want A’s and school districts do, too. But Bs are something we can be pleased with today as we prod our children and schools to go that extra mile.

It’s the rule of the carrot or the stick. We use it in news stories, too.

We are proud of both Senatobia and Tate County schools. They have worked hard to educate our children and prove to others we have good schools and a good community.
