SPD charges Redd with sexual battery
A former DeSoto County school teacher was arrested by Senatobia police in connection with sexual abuse allegations made by a juvenile.
Chief Richard Chandler identified the suspect as Evanbrooke Foster Redd, 32, of Senatobia. Redd was charged with sexual battery and touching a child Wednesday, Oct. 6. She was transported to the Tate County Jail and released under a $100,000 bond.
Chandler confirmed Redd was a teacher at DeSoto Central Middle School. According to DeSoto County Schools, Redd was hired in 2020 and was an eighth grade Mississippi Studies and World Geography instructor at the middle school. The district released a statement saying Redd was no longer employed there.
Chandler said the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department took a report from a juvenile Thursday, Sept. 30, saying she was sexually abused at a residence at 304 East Gilmore in Senatobia. Detectives from CID launched an inquiry in with cooperation with officials from the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services.
Chandler said enough probable cause was discovered through evidence and numerous interviews to obtain a search warrant for Redd’s residence Wednesday, Oct. 6, as well as a warrant for her arrest in connection with the case. Redd was taken into custody without incident, according to Chandler.
