A local man is facing charges in connection with an incident involving improper contact with a child, according to law enforcement officials.
Detective Brannon Rushing of the Senatobia Police Department said William T. Chambers, 73, of the 300 block of Shaker Drive in Senatobia, was taken into custody Thursday, Sept. 23, and charged with fondling. He was booked at the Tate County Jail and held under a $75,000 bond.
Rushing said the SPD Criminal Investigations Division opened an inquiry Thursday, Sept. 9, in conjunction with Child Protective Services after accusations of sexual abuse were made by a minor.
“Over the course of two weeks, additional minors came forward with allegations of sexual abuse as well,” Rushing explained. “We gained enough probable cause through evidence and reports during the investigation to charge Chambers.”
Rushing said an investigation of the incidents remains under review and more charges are expected.
