A local man has been arrested and charged in connection with abusing his own daughter.
Detective Riley Cole, of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department, identified the suspect as Joseph R. Davis, 20, of Senatobia. Davis was charged with felony child abuse Wednesday, Aug. 11, and detained at the Tate County Jail under a $200,000 bond.
Cole said her office received a call from officials at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis earlier this month regarding injuries to a seven-month-old girl that did not appear to be the result of an accident.
Enough evidence was uncovered during the investigation to charge Davis, the child’s biological father, in connection with the incident, according to Cole.
Davis is scheduled to appear in Senatobia Municipal Court on Friday, Oct. 8.
