A local man is facing several charges in connection with a vehicle accident that sent two people to the hospital with injuries.
Assistant Chief Matt Defore from the Senatobia Police Department identified the man as Brian Veazey Williams, 41, of the 600 block of Country Club Drive.
Williams was booked at the Tate County Jail where he was held under a $3,000 bond on charges of DUI-second offense, possession of open container, no seatbelt, driving while license suspended, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Defore said police officers were dispatched to the 740 Interchange near Interstate 55 in Senatobia on Saturday, Oct. 23, at approximately 12:15 p.m., after an accident involving two vehicles was reported. He said upon arrival officers discovered one vehicle at the scene with two occupants inside, who were extricated from the vehicle and treated for injuries by emergency personnel. Both were transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto.
According to Defore, police officers were able to obtain a description and license plate number of the other vehicle that left the scene. The vehicle in question was stopped on the 740 Interchange coming from U.S Highway 51 a short time later and officers identified Williams as the driver. Officers discovered multiple varieties of alcohol during a search of the vehicle, according to Defore.
The accident remains under investigation by the Senatobia Police Department. Defore said some of the charges against Williams could be upgraded to felonies pending the medical diagnosis of one of the victim's injuries.
