A man was taken into custody by Senatobia police in connection with several charges, including kidnapping, following a commotion in a local neighborhood.
The suspect, identified by Detective Riley Cole from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Senatobia Police Department, as Joey Griffin, 32, of Courtland, was charged with kidnapping, burglary, domestic violence and trespassing after notice of non-permission in connection with the incident.
Cole said officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Cauthen Circle on Tuesday, Aug. 17, after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance between a male and female at a residence in the area. Officers discovered an injured female subject, whose name was not released, bleeding inside a home.
A “be on the lookout” was issued to area law enforcement agencies after the suspect was seen leaving the scene and traveling south on Scott Street. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later by officers from the Batesville Police Department and transported back to Senatobia where he was booked at the Tate County Jail and held under a $156,500 bond.
The suspect’s sister-in-law, identified by Cole as Shaniece Griffin, was also detained in connection with the incident.
The case remains under review by the Senatobia Police Department.
