Five male subjects have been ordered to serve substantial amounts of time in prison for their roles in a Tate County murder over two years ago.
Documents from Tate County Circuit Court show I’zavious Anderson, 17, of Falcon; LaJarron Jamal Walton, 21, of Crenshaw; Martavious Deshun Frost, 20, of Como; Marquette Artez Sacks, 16, of Sledge; and Romell Davarius Williams, 16, of Crenshaw all pleaded guilty in connection with a murder in 2020.
Deputies were dispatched to the 8000 block of Tate-Panola Road on Dec. 28, after receiving reports of a shooting at a residence in the area, according to a report from the Tate County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brad Lance told the Tate Record deputies discovered a deceased adult male at the scene, identified as Antonio Oliver, 46, of Sarah, with gunshot wounds.
An eyewitness was able to provide TCSO investigators with detailed information of the incident including a description of the perpetrators and the vehicle they were driving, according to Lance. Lance said a subsequent investigation, with assistance from authorities from Panola and Quitman Counties, eventually led to the arrest of five individuals who were initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
Anderson and Walton were sentenced to 40 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), while Frost received 35 years and five years post-release supervision. All three pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Both Sacks and Williams were sentenced to 20 years in MDOC after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.
Anderson and Walton were indicted by the Tate County Grand Jury in May 2021. Sacks and Williams were indicted in June 2022 and Frost was indicted in July 2022.
