A man is in custody in connection with attempting to rob a Coldwater convenience store.
Police Chief Rickey Dandridge identified the suspect as Ryleek Miles, 19, of Shannon, Miss., who was charged with armed robbery and detained at the Tate County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
Dandridge said a male subject wearing a ski mask entered the Valero on 706 East Service Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at approximately 8:45 p.m. The store clerk advised him to either remove the mask or leave the store.
The subject brandished a gun and demanded $200 and a pack of cigarettes, according to Dandridge. The clerk denied the request and a physical altercation ensued before the suspect fled the scene without money or merchandise. Dandridge said the clerk was not injured during the dispute.
Coldwater Police Department received information regarding the suspect’s identity and whereabouts before he was arrested without incident Thursday, Nov. 3, at a residence in Coldwater.
The case remains under review by CPD, according to Dandridge.
