The addition of a new Mexican restaurant in Senatobia has taken a huge step forward.
The city planning commission approved three motions Monday, Sept. 16, allowing Costa Mexican Grill to begin preparing for construction at its future site at 5701 U.S. Highway 51 North, near where it intersects with Moores Crossing.
City building official Stephen Hodges and engineer Kevin McLeod presented the proposals on behalf of AHS Civil Group, a construction company in northeast Mississippi.
Following a brief presentation, the Senatobia Planning Commission approved requests for a one-lot subdivision, a variance to allow for a takeout/ pickup window and the restaurant’s final site plan. A one-lot subdivision approval was necessary since the restaurant will be constructed on a small portion of the overall section of land.
Hodges said Costa Mexican Grill, which has another location in Ecru south of New Albany, will be a nice addition to Senatobia.
“This is going to be a nice-looking, welcoming building on the north side of our city coming down Highway 51,” Hodges said. “Hopefully, it will lead to additional business growth in that area.”
