The Senatobia Police Department is searching for suspects connected to a copper theft at a vacant building in the city.
A report from SPD states an individual flagged down a police officer Friday, July 18 near the intersection of East Main Street and Norfleet Drive. The civilian told the officer his profession consists of working on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and he noticed damage to the units on the roof of the former KFC building at 505 East Main while waiting at a traffic light.
According to the police report, officers gained access to the roof and discovered HVAC units had been stripped of copper wiring and pipes.
“We are grateful when we receive tips and information from citizens who believe a crime has been committed,” said Blake Warren, interim police chief.

Persons buying and selling stolen copper can face up to a year in prison, a $1,000 fine and be forced to pay restitution.
