Coldwater and Senatobia opened the 2025-26 fiscal year with a boost in sales tax collections.
July statistics from the Mississippi Department of Revenue (MDOR) show Coldwater with a 22.8% increase, while Senatobia’s jumped 1.2%. MDOR operates on a fiscal year which begins on July 1st and ends on June 30.
Statewide sales tax collections are based on a three-month cycle. Checks disbursed in July by MDOR were from revenue obtained in May and taxes paid to the state in June.
Coldwater took in $46,585 in July sales tax collections – an increase from $35,982 in July 2024.
Senatobia collected $255,963 in July revenue compared to $253,135 in July 2024.
Sales tax is collected on local purchases and submitted monthly to MDOR before it is paid to cities.
Sales tax receipts paid to cities are a direct result of money spent by consumers in those municipalities.
Area sales tax rebate numbers are:
- Batesville: $496,411.89.
- Clarksdale: $246,581.12.

- Hernando: $498,713.65.
- Holly Springs: $143,893.16.
- Marks: $17,625.12
- Olive Branch: $1,406,857.80.
- Oxford: $1,188,640.63.
- Sardis: $33,540.72.
- Southaven: $1,779,285.11.
