– The Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women (MFDW) issued the following statement announcing its endorsement of Dianne Dodson Black, Democratic candidate for US House of Representatives for Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District.
“We are proud to support Dianne Dodson Black in her campaign to represent the people of the 1st Congressional District. Mrs. Dodson Black, the first African-American woman to run for the US House of Representatives in Mississippi, shares the commitment to the ideals that bring our Mississippi Federation of Democratic Women together: equality, justice, and compassion,” said Lovie West, President, MFDW.
“Dodson Black has both experience and empathy for the special challenges facing residents of rural as well as suburban Mississippi. She grew up in the small town of Bolton in Marshall County. Today she lives and works in Olive Branch and understands the potential growth of North Mississippi.
“Mrs. Dodson Black’s platform resonates with us and fits with the values that matter to us. We are impressed with her commitment to improving the health and quality of life of all Mississippians. We commend her focus on investment in infrastructure, Medicaid expansion, student loan forgiveness, voting rights, reproductive rights, criminal justice reform, raising the minimum wage, and sustainable energy.”
“Residents of the 1st District need a compassionate and people-first Congresswoman. We are certain that Mrs. Dodson Black, who puts the needs of the majority first, will be that Congresswoman,” said West.
“We are ready to help mobilize this district and do the work to send Dianne Dodson Black to the US House of Representatives in November,” concluded West.
