The Senatobia Police Department is doing its part to spread Christmas cheer again this holiday season by assisting local families in need.
Shop with a Cop will take place Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m., providing fun for several children throughout Senatobia while creating positive relationships with law enforcement.
“It’s basically a special time for officers to bond with a child while shopping,” said Sgt. Kevin McKenzie, who is spearheading the annual event. “It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know some of the kids in our community and build trust and relationships with them.”
On the day of the event, uniformed officers from the Senatobia Police Department volunteer their time to be with children, ages six to 12, handpicked by school officials from the city and spend approximately an hour walking the aisles at Walmart in Senatobia picking out toys and clothing.
“We are really looking forward to it and very thankful for our local Walmart and its willingness to host the event,” McKenzie said.
Monetary donations are currently being accepted from citizens and business owners to sponsor Shop with a Cop. Checks can made out to “New Hope Assembly of God” and earmarked “Shop with a Cop 2021”.
