Magnolia Home and Garden Club was held November 12 at the Senatobia Methodist Church with Leland Earp as hostess. Leland served coffee and a delicious assortment of breakfast bites. Allison Mitchell gave a prayer to open our meeting.Guests were Lisa Cox and Betty Pruett, both Master Gardners from Senatobia and friends of Dr Lelia Scott Kelly, professor at Ms. State, who gave a wonderful presentation on making good use of outdoor plants for decorating. Dr. Kelly showed us how we could use outdoor greenery such as Sumac, that can be dried and used, Nandina ,vibernum, Lavender, Mary Nelly Holly and Sweet Bay Magnolia are just a few that can be cut in the yard, or the woods and made into wonderful arrangements. Outdoor plants such as pods, nuts and pine cones are great additions to use in arrangements. Dr. Scott showed inexpensive containers she found at Walmart. All of the plants Dr Kelly had were great for seasonal decorating, and Christmas decorating. She finds her plants in her yard, along the highways, in the woods and anywhere she sees them. For some of you who think Dr Kelly looks familiar, she appears on Saturday mornings on WKNO on The Family Plot. You can find her schedule on the TV guide. It was announced that our Christmas party would be December 10 at Allison’s and Dedric Mitchell’s home. We will enjoy Christmas with our families and meet again in January at The Senatobia Public Library. Everyone have great Holiday.
