Senatobia Fire & Rescue would like to thank the many citizens of Senatobia that gave financially during our recent Fire Prevention Education focus. Fire Prevention Week was October 3-9 this year and the theme determined by the NFPA, National Fire Prevention Association, was “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety”.
Senatobia Fire & Rescue presented to over 500 children and more than 50 adults about the importance of knowing how to respond to the sounds of smoke alarms. To the youngest children we focused on the importance of “get out and stay out” when you hear the “beep, beep, beep” of your smoke alarm. It is also important to know that the “chirp, chirp” of your smoke alarms means to change the batteries. Batteries should be checked once a month, changed once a year and smoke alarms need to be replaced every 10 years.
Your generous donations will allow us to carry fire prevention and life safety messages to our community throughout the year as well. Fire Prevention Education has helped to reduce the number of fires, fire related deaths and injuries, and helped to reduce property damage tremendously over the last several decades.
Other important life safety messages that we would like to share with our community include, disaster preparedness, fall prevention for senior adults, and teen safe driving. If you are interested in having any of these messages presented to your social group, school group or church group please contact our Fire and Life Safety Educator, Chantay Rhone by email at crhone@cityofsenatobia.com
