Bob and Judy Smith are the proud owners of not one, but two Rescue dogs. Brandy and Emmy are two successfully adopted rescue dogs from the Senatobia Animal Shelter. Emmy is an 8 year old full blooded Border Collie and Brandy is a 6 year old Australian Shepherd Mix. Both are beautiful and are obviously loved by their owners.
Emmy was adopted shortly after Bob and Judy returned from a Christian Retreat called Emmaus. A friend suggested they name her Emmy and that name seemed to fit her perfectly. Brandy’s name was chosen because her fur coat looked like the color of Brandy.
Even though they have had a few naughty moments of chewing up a couple of things and digging a few holes, all in all Judy says that they couldn’t have had better luck with their adoption. They are dogs that don’t do a lot of tricks to entertain their owners, but they are good at obeying commands – especially hand signals.
When asked what made their pets sad, Judy told me that it was when she and Bob have to leave the house. And what makes them happy? When Bob and Judy come home! This is one more thing that makes the owners happy with their choice of pets and makes them know that they are loved!
One of the fun things about being a pet owner is that you can be as silly as you want to be and your pets think that you are great! One of Bob and Judy’s favorite games is to do “pretend barking" with Brandy and Emmy. Brandy’s bark does a high and shrill bark and Emmy does a deep “wolf, wolf” bark. This of course, soon breaks out the laughter in the house.
Thunder and lightning are not their friends and both Emmy and Brandy hate when rain storms come. Emmy is very shy and easily frightened at the first sound of the storm. Both beg to go to Bob and Judy’s safe room until the storm passes by.
Even though Emmy and Brandy are pretty big dogs they have always slept with Bob and Judy until Emmy’s hip began to bother her and she began having trouble climbing up on the bed. They are both good snugglers and enjoy getting lots of attention from their owners.
When asked how their pets have helped them get through this pandemic, I was told that Emmy and Brandy are great entertainers. They keep us laughing all the time and have brought us so much joy! We love to have them around and they are really good dogs!
Judy feels that God gives us dogs to show us how to love Him. They always trust and want to please us. They are totally devoted, as we should be to God.
Our dogs give us unconditional love. No matter how we mess up, we see our dogs happy to see us and coming to us for a hug and a rub. So if you feel as though you need to give love or receive love, check our newspaper, keep watch on the Shelter’s Facebook page or visit our local Senatobia Animal Shelter where just the right pet is waiting for you!
