Tom Pittman, President Emeritus of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, was recently presented with the first copy of the 2023 Philanthropy Report. “The Community Foundation is pleased to continue to recognize Tom for his 20 years as president of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi,” said Keith Fulcher, President since 2020. “The accomplishments and milestones contained in the 2023 Philanthropy Report are a result of Tom’s leadership of the Community Foundation.”
The year 2023 marked major milestones for the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. The Assets of the Community Foundation ended at an all-time high of $43.5 million. The Assets grew 13% from the previous year. The Endowment reached an all-time high of $25.6 million in permanent funds, which is a 20% increase. Total Donations of $8.2 million were made for an increase of 14% from the previous year. A total of $4.0 million in Grants were provided to nonprofits. Total grants have topped the $4.0 million mark two of the last three years. Since 2004 a total of $42.0 million has been granted. A total of 19,845 Volunteers were documented that equated to a value of $3.99 million in Volunteer hours at $31.80 per hour.
“Although the 2023 financials are very impressive and record setting, they don’t tell the complete story of the numerous lives the Community Foundation has touched for the better in the areas of health, education, and caring for the needs of children,” said Stacye Trout, Director of Development. “Our staff and Board of Directors are committed to connecting people who care with causes that matter.”
The Community Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable organization with offices in Hernando and Clarksdale, Mississippi and was established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation. The Foundation serves Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, and Tunica counties.
