Voters in Senatobia’s special election Tuesday, Feb. 13, to fill the vacated Alderman at-large spot will now decide between two candidates after the sudden and recent death of Scott Richey.
Richey, 61, who passed away Feb. 9, worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service for 38 years and was Supervisory District Conservationist in Tate and DeSoto Counties for 29 of those before his retirement.
Richey’s name will still appear on the special election ballot Tuesday, Feb. 9, since those were printed before his death. Demetrius Garrett, 31, and Allison Eoff, 53, are the other two candidates.
Citizens who reside in Wards 1 and 2 can cast their ballots inside the Senatobia Municipal Courtroom at 131 North Front Street, while residents of Wards 3 and 4 will be allowed to vote inside the boardroom at Senatobia City Hall at 133 North Front Street.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., to fill the spot vacated by Adam Moore, who resigned in January after selling his residence in Senatobia and moving into a rental property in the county until construction of his new home in Back Acres Country Club is complete.
