Hunger for the true Word
The Lord said: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14, KJB). When we do not allow His Spirit to abide in us, we miss an opportunity to be his hands, eyes, ears, and mouthpiece for a dying world. We can heal ourselves and others, and others can heal us when we abide in Him. The knowledge to prevent and cure diseases and heal this world has been revealed. Scripture tells us we must acknowledge sins and confess transgressions. The Lord wants us to do great work, and we can do more excellent work if we hunger and thirst for His Word. If you have an ear to hear, turn from the ways of darkness, humble yourself, and pray for health and well-being for yourself and others.
If you believe God, “Lift your hands toward the sanctuary, and praise the LORD” (Psa. 134:2). It is time that we allow the Lord to establish the works of our hands. God wants to heal us and our land, not through strife or war but through spiritual blessings. We cannot bomb our way to peace or starve the disadvantaged into submission. God wants us to claim our healing by hungering for His Word and burying it in our hearts so we will not sin against Him. Hear his words, turn from the ways of darkness, and pursue righteousness. We will find everything we need in the Word of God.
However, we must not expect this life to be without pain and suffering. Rejoice because sometimes sickness leads to life. Hannah’s mental anguish from the taunting words of Peninnah (Elkanah’s second wife) led to a closer walk with God and the birth of Samuel, the prophet who anointed Israel's first king, Saul, and Israel's greatest king, David.
We need to remember that all healing is not about healing physical wounds. We also need to accept that sometimes we must die to claim our healing and the healing for generations yet to be born. Sometimes, we sow a seed but are not alive to reap the harvest. Sometimes, we will bear the reproach of people because we did nothing.
However, there is good news. Even though we strayed from the path, the Lord has not abandoned or forsaken us. So, come, let us return to the LORD. Many embrace the counsel of the ungodly, but He will still forgive and heal their minds and hearts. Lies and deception wound us, but He will bind our wounds. Do what Ezekiel told his people: “Cast away from yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and fashion for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit” (Ezek. 18:31). God is waiting; connect to the truth and expose evil.
