“Accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior “
Is this biblical?
Where in the New Testament can you find an example of anyone being told to accept Jesus Christ as your savior?
Nowhere is the answer
The book of Acts is the acts of the apostles and Christians in the first century, we have example after example of what these men and women were told to do in order to be saved .
Acts 2 :14-38 the gospel was preached to these people, when they asked what must we do to be saved, they were told repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins.
Acts 8:13 Simon heard the gospel, believed and was baptized
Acts 8:35-37 Ethiopian eunuch heard the gospel, believed confessed Jesus was the Christ and was baptized
Acts 22:16 Saul was told to arise be baptized wash away your sins
Acts 10 Cornelius
Acts 16 Lydia and her household
Acts 16 the Philippian jailer
Acts 18 the Corinthians
Acts 19 the Ephesians
Please take the time to read these verses and you will see they were taught the gospel, they believed they repented of their sins they confessed the name of Jesus, and they were baptized for the remission of sins.
Nowhere were they told to accept Jesus as their personal savior. People if we want to be saved today the recipe is the same.
We have the gospel of Jesus Christ, it will never change, it can’t be added to or taken away from.
This is what one must do in order to be saved. Not say “the sinners prayer, not accept jesus as your personal savior “
We invite you to come worship with the church of Christ at Van Dorn street in Grenada.
