James 3:6-12
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our LORD and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and saltwater flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olive, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
We must strive to control our tongues, we must refrain from speaking evil, and what is evil? Anything that is against God, anything that is ungodly.
Have you ever had someone tell you “watch what you say, that’s my preacher.”
Why do they say this? because they know they are talking evil, gossiping, or slandering or dirty jokes or cursing, and the think that the preacher is someone special. What they need to understand is God hears every word, and He is not pleased with this type of action.
We will give an account of every idle word, Matthew 12:36-37
Let’s use our tongue for good to spread the word of God , to build up rather that break down .
This is how Christians are to conduct themselves.
We invite you to come worship with the church of Christ at Van Dorn Street in Grenada.
