On Sunday, December 15, 2024, 86-year-old Robert Chambers traveled to Tampa, Fla. for the Florida Senior Games.
Chambers has been training for the 50-meter and 100-meter dash for the past six months to qualify to compete in the National Senior Games to be held in Des Moines, Iowa, in August of 2025.
Mr. Bob did run the qualifying times for both the 50- & 100-meter dash. He also was awarded two gold medals for coming in first place for out-of-state participants. He came in third in races against the Florida participants. He was accompanied by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He just regrets that his late wife of 64 years, Dorothy Chambers, was not there to accompany him.
Chambers will continue to train and compete in the Mississippi Senior Games and the upcoming National Senior Games in 2025.
Chambers has been a resident of Tate County since 1992 (32 years). He established his family business also in1992 and is still the current CEO of Cardinal Conveyor, Inc.
Chambers is a member of Antioch Church of Christ.
